Media: Iran, US still deadlocked over date for next nuclear talks
Iran and the US have not finalised a date for the upcoming round of indirect negotiations aimed at resolving the ongoing disputes surrounding Iran’s nuclear programme.
Despite recent reports suggesting the talks could take place on June 7-8, no official agreement on the timing has been reached, Caliber.Az reports via Russian media.
Since April 12, the US and Iran have conducted five rounds of nuclear negotiations and are expected to continue talks aimed at reaching a new agreement. A key point of contention remains the extent of uranium enrichment.
Iran’s Foreign Minister and head of the negotiating team Abbas Araghchi noted that during a brief visit to Tehran, Omani Foreign Minister Badr Al-Busaidi conveyed the details of the US proposal concerning the nuclear deal to Iran. Araghchi added that Iran would respond to the proposal in a manner consistent with its principles, national interests, and the rights of people.
Spokesman for Iran’s Foreign Ministry Esmaeil Baghaei emphasised that Tehran’s reply to the US offer would be guided by national interests. He stated, “Any proposal must be carefully examined, and the response should align with our fundamental principles and national priorities.”
