Russian official criticizes Armenian PM's remarks on CSTO
Maria Zakharova, spokesperson for the Russian Foreign Ministry, has sharply criticized Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan's assertion that the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) poses a threat to Armenia's sovereignty.
Zakharova described Pashinyan's statements as lacking common sense and failing to align with reality, Caliber.Az reports per Russian media.
The spokesperson questioned the logic of Pashinyan's claims, noting that if Armenia truly perceived a threat, it would not continue to remain a member of the CSTO.
“If they stay, it means they see some expediency in it,” she stated, while pointing out the inconsistency in Pashinyan's claim that the CSTO had "withdrawn from Armenia."
Zakharova emphasized that such contradictions undermine both the logic and common sense of the situation, highlighting the complexity of Armenia's relationship with the military alliance amid ongoing regional tensions.
