Significance of West's statement for Baku should not be exaggerated, expert says
Speaking to Armenian media, Vladimir Bruter, a Russian expert at the International Institute for Humanitarian and Political Studies, has commented on the statement made by NATO's Special Representative for the South Caucasus, Javier Colomina.
"I think that the statement made by the NATO Secretary General's Special Representative for the South Caucasus, according to which the Principles of Settlement agreed between Yerevan and Baku shouldn't be changed, mainly refers to Baku. However, in Baku, these statements are not perceived as being of any importance," he said, quoted by Caliber.Az.
"Baku has its own vision and will implement it to the extent possible. As for what NATO or other Western powers say, we have seen that Azerbaijan is very indifferent to that," he noted.
"For example, Baku immediately took strong actions as soon as France went beyond a certain conditional neutrality, as Baku believed. Therefore, I think it is exaggerated to say that Baku is going to take the West's statements as something important," Bruter stressed.
