SOCAR, Uzbekneftegaz ink “Roadmap” to expand cooperation PHOTO
The state-owned energy company of Azerbaijan SOCAR and Uzbekneftegaz Corporation intend to cooperate within digital technologies.
The statement was heard during a meeting between the Azerbaijani delegation headed by First Vice President, Acting President of SOCAR Rovshan Najaf, and Chairman of the Board of Uzbekneftegaz company Mekhriddin Abdullayev in Uzbekistan, Report informs citing SOCAR.
After the official visit of Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev to Uzbekistan last month, a delegation headed by Najaf visited Uzbekistan to fulfil the tasks set by Azerbaijan’s president.
As part of the visit to Uzbekistan, the Azerbaijani delegation first visited the monument to the national leader of the Azerbaijani people Heydar Aliyev installed in Tashkent and laid flowers at the monument.
The SOCAR delegation also visited the Simulation Center of Uzbekneftegaz OJSC, as well as the Production and Dispatch Control Center.
During the meeting between the chairmen of the two energy companies, the prospects for cooperation between the two companies, exchange of experience and other issues of mutual interest were discussed.
At the meeting, a “Road Map” was signed to expand cooperation between SOCAR and Uzbekneftegaz. The document covers such areas as the implementation of joint projects in the oil and gas sector and cooperation in trading, oil refining, petrochemistry, exchange of experience and other important issues. The document also envisages internships for employees of Uzbekneftegaz at SOCAR enterprises, the organisation of regular meetings between specialists of companies, the creation of joint working subgroups, and cooperation in the field of digital technologies.
During the visit, Najaf also met with Uzbekistan’s First Deputy Energy Minister, Acting Minister of Energy Azim Akhmedkhadzhaev, during which an exchange of views took place on the possibilities of strengthening relations in the energy sector between the two countries.
The SOCAR delegation also met with the leadership of the Uzbek State Committee for Geology in Tashkent. The meeting discussed issues of cooperation in geology and the exploration of the possibilities of SOCAR's participation in projects implemented in Uzbekistan.
