Strike halts operations at Zangezur Copper and Molybdenum Combine in Armenia
Hundreds of workers at the Zangezur Copper and Molybdenum Combine in Armenia have gone on strike, halting operations at the facility.
Around 700 employees are demanding higher wages and better communication between management and workers, Caliber.Az reports via Armenian media.
As reported by Armenian media, workers voiced their concerns, with one employee stating, “Salaries are low mainly for workers, while the middle and upper ranks receive large amounts. Secondly, there is a complete lack of dialogue between workers and superiors, which leads to numerous problems, including issues with feedback, work organization, and work quality.”
In response to the strike, the company said that the demands from the workers are too high. A company spokesperson remarked, “The strike is causing significant losses for the mill, and if it continues, we will be forced to send many employees on forced leave.”
Despite the company's stance, the workers remain determined to continue their strike. One worker said, “We are ready to strike further if our demands are not met.”
