Top official: Armenia draws conclusions on CSTO Yerevan unhappy
Life proves that the military role of CSTO in the post-Soviet space does not justify itself and the proofs are many.
This was stated by the speaker of Armenian parliament Alen Simonyan in his interview with the journalists on November 24, Caliber.Az reports quoting Armenian media.
According to him, this is obvious not only in the context of the Armenian-Azerbaijani conflict. He added that the Armenian side has made conclusions and is taking effective steps in this direction.
"We joined the CSTO for protection from the Turkish-Azerbaijani tandem. From whom else? And when the time came to give at least political assessments, those assessments were not enough. Armenia's reaction to this was to refuse to sign yesterday's document. We expected the document to contain a political assessment," said Simonyan.
On November 24, following the results of the meeting of the CSTO Collective Security Council, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan refused to sign the CSTO declaration on assistance to the country.
