Terror attack at market in India leaves at least 12 injured
At least 12 people were injured after terrorists threw a grenade at a Sunday market in Srinagar city, located in the northern Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir on November 3.
So far, no extremist groups operating in the Indian-administered region of Kashmir have claimed responsibility for the attack, Caliber.Az reports via foreign media.
The attack may have been carried out by Lashkar-e-Taiba terrorist group. During a law enforcement operation on November 2, two militants were eliminated, one of whom was a prominent field commander from this group known as Usman.
Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir union territory Omar Abdullah condemned the attack, highlighting the rise in terrorist activity in the region.
He urged law enforcement agencies to take all necessary measures to curb extremist threats.
“The last few days have been dominated by headlines of attacks & encounters in parts of the valley. Today’s news of a grenade attack on innocent shoppers at the ‘Sunday market’ in Srinagar is deeply disturbing. There can be no justification for targeting innocent civilians. The security apparatus must do everything possible to end this spurt of attacks at the earliest so that people can go about their lives without any fear,” he wrote on X.
Earlier this week, terrorists shot and injured two migrant laborers in Budgam. This incident occurred less than two weeks after the killing of a doctor and six construction workers in Ganderbal district.
