Ukrenergo highlights prospects of Azerbaijani companies in Ukrainian energy market

Chairman of the Management Board of the National Energy Company Ukrenergo, Volodymyr Kudrytskyi, has said that relations between Ukrainian Azerbaijani companies have a long history, which began long before the Russian invasion of Ukraine.

This highlights the promising future of Azerbaijani companies in the country's energy market, Kudrytskyi told the Eastern European bureau of Report.

According to him, even before the war, Ukrenergo cooperated with various companies to supply equipment, transformer and electrical engineering.

"We interacted with your companies within the framework of international projects, so for us Azerbaijani companies and businesses are long-standing partners," Kudrytskyi emphasised.

 According to him, the most difficult period after the start of the full-scale Russian invasion was 2022-2023. "To provide the population with electricity, we received significant humanitarian aid from Azerbaijan. The government and companies of your country supported the Ukrainian people. We are very grateful to Azerbaijan for this," the head of Ukrenergo said.

Kudrytskyi believes that once the war is over, the Ukrainian market will become the largest reconstruction market on the continent for decades. "There will be a place for a wide variety of companies, including manufacturers of electrical and other equipment, materials and so on. We expect Azerbaijan's participation in Ukraine's energy sector, that your country will become an active participant in the energy recovery," he said. - We are talking not only about traditional generation, grids and substations, but also about renewable energy sources. I am confident that Azerbaijan can become a player in the Ukrainian market.

The head of Ukrenergo also noted that Ukraine and Azerbaijan have quite unique manufacturing enterprises for the production of autotransformer equipment, in which Ukraine has a great need.

"The development of green energy in Europe has led to a lot of investment in grids. And countries that have manufacturing technologies such as high-voltage autotransformers have a great advantage. I think cooperation in this area would be interesting for our companies," he concluded.
