UN-Habitat, Azerbaijan launch Baku urban award
The United Nations Human Settlements Programme (UN-Habitat) has announced a new global initiative aimed at advancing innovation in the housing sector, through the establishment of the Baku Urban Award, unveiled during the 13th session of the World Urban Forum (WUF13) in Baku.
UN-Habitat Executive Director Anacláudia Rossbach said the initiative reflects close cooperation with the Government of Azerbaijan and is designed to strengthen global collaboration on urban development challenges, Caliber.Az reports per local media.
“UN-Habitat, in partnership with the Government of Azerbaijan, has launched an initiative to establish the Baku Urban Award. This global initiative aims to identify, promote, and disseminate solutions in the housing sector,” she said.
Rossbach emphasised that the award goes beyond symbolic recognition, positioning it as a practical platform for international exchange. According to her, the initiative will support knowledge sharing, capacity building, and the replication of successful housing and urban development practices across different countries.
