UN rep reveals key issues to be discussed at COP29
UN Resident Coordinator in Azerbaijan Vladanka Andreeva has revealed four priority issues that will be discussed at the COP29 Climate Change Conference in Baku in November.
Andreeva made the statement at a seminar at ADA University on "Opportunities and Challenges of Combating Climate Change. European and regional perspectives", Trend reports.
"There are four critical priority topics that COP29 will require the parties to identify and decide on," she emphasised.
According to her, first is the Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs. i.e. a climate action plan to cut emissions and adapt to climate impacts), second is the coal import agreement, and third is the effort to finalise an agreement on Article 6 of the Paris Agreement.
"And the fourth area will be to emphasise the importance of shared accountability, responsibility and transparency. Countries are expected to adopt the biennial transparency report for the first time," she added.
