UN set to introduce new initiatives at WUF13 in Baku
UN-Habitat plans to implement new initiatives at the 13th session of the World Urban Forum (WUF13), scheduled for May 17–22 in Baku, María Fernanda Espinosa, President of the 73rd UN General Assembly.
She stated that they are collaborating with the State Committee for Urban Planning and Architecture to identify a project that will benefit the local community long after the forum concludes, Caliber.Az reports.
“In Baku, we are introducing several innovations to the forum format. One is the ‘Legacy Project.’ We want WUF13 to leave a lasting impact in Baku and across Azerbaijan,” Espinosa said at a media briefing.
She also highlighted a new initiative, the “WUF Alumni Network,” which will connect all participants of the World Urban Forum over the past 20 years, consolidating their knowledge and ensuring continuity in urban development agendas.
Espinosa emphasised the active role of the private sector at the upcoming session.
“We are convinced that without the private sector, achieving the scale of investment needed for sustainable housing and infrastructure is impossible. In Baku, a special ‘Business Assembly’ will bring together CEOs and company leaders with mayors and ministers to foster new partnerships,” she added.
