US to send another group of strategic bombers to UK
Another pair of US Air Force B-1B Lancer strategic bombers is due to arrive at Fairford Air Base in Gloucestershire, England, after a transatlantic flight.
According to the Gloucestershire Live news service, two B-1B Lancers had already been deployed there the day before, flying from Dyess Air Force Base in Texas.
Sources confirming the deployment of the bombers to the UK do not rule out that the B-1Bs could be used in a show of force operation in the Middle East amid the Palestinian-Israeli conflict.
"In today's complex and dynamic security environment, the importance of these missions cannot be overstated," General James Hecker, commander of the US Air Force in Europe, said the previous day. - We're not only demonstrating our commitment to collective defence but also strengthening our ability to respond to potential challenges. This underscores the enduring commitment of the United States to our Allies and partners."
