Western Azerbaijan Community highlights enforced disappearances of Azerbaijanis Amidst Armenian aggression
On the International Day of the Disappeared, the Western Azerbaijan Community has issued a stark statement condemning the enforced disappearances of Azerbaijanis during Armenia’s ethnic cleansing campaigns and military aggression against Azerbaijan’s territorial integrity.
The statement asserts that these actions by Armenia constitute severe violations of human rights, Caliber.Az reports.
The Community emphasizes that the right to protection against enforced disappearance is enshrined in numerous international human rights treaties, including the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights, and the International Convention for the Protection of All Persons from Enforced Disappearance.
The statement criticizes Armenia for its failure to provide information about the missing Azerbaijanis or the locations of mass graves containing the remains of murdered Azerbaijanis. This lack of transparency, the Community argues, exacerbates the suffering of the victims' families.
The Western Azerbaijan Community has once again called on the Armenian government to cooperate in clarifying the fates of the missed individuals, to engage in dialogue with Azerbaijan on this pressing issue, and to hold accountable those responsible for these heinous crimes.
