Why Armenia refused to recognise Karabakh's independence in 2020 Pashinyan explains
Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan has responded to the opposition's criticism over Yerevan's non-recognition of Karabakh's independence during the 2020 44-day war.
As Caliber.Az reports with reference to the Armenian media, at a meeting of the commission on June 27 to study the circumstances of the war, the head of government said that if the independence of Karabakh was recognised, it would be impossible to stop the war even on November 9.
Earlier, the deputy of the Republican Party of Armenia Armen Ashotyan stated that the recognition of the independence of Karabakh by Armenia would become a diplomatic "Iskander" in the hands of the Armenian side and that the authorities made a fatal mistake by abandoning such a formidable "weapon".
The prime minister, reacting to this remark of the oppositionist, asked a counter-question - why in April 2016, during the four-day escalation, Armenia did not take this step - “did not use this Iskander”.
