Azerbaijan, Pakistan, and Türkiye deepen ties through strengthened parliamentary dialogue
President of Pakistan Asif Ali Zardari received the Speaker of Azerbaijan’s Milli Majlis, Sahiba Gafarova, and the Speaker of Türkiye’s Grand National Assembly, Numan Kurtulmuş, in Islamabad.
According to local media, the head of the Turkish parliament shared details of the meeting on social media, expressing his gratitude to President Zardari for the warm reception. “I thank President of Pakistan Asif Ali Zardari for the reception and hope that our visit will strengthen the friendship between Türkiye and Pakistan and contribute to the further development of our cooperation in all areas,” Kurtulmuş wrote.
The meeting took place within the framework of the Third Trilateral Meeting of the Speakers of the Parliaments of Azerbaijan, Pakistan, and Türkiye, which was held on October 13 in Islamabad.
The trilateral gathering concluded with the signing of the Islamabad Declaration, adopted during the closing session of the meeting titled “Strengthening Fraternal Ties: Parliamentary Cooperation for Regional Peace, Security and Prosperity.”
The declaration was signed by Sahiba Gafarova, Speaker of the Milli Majlis of Azerbaijan; Numan Kurtulmuş, Speaker of the Grand National Assembly of Türkiye; and Sardar Ayaz Sadiq, Speaker of the National Assembly of Pakistan.
The document reaffirms the commitment of the three countries to deepening inter-parliamentary cooperation and strengthening their partnership in promoting regional peace, stability, and prosperity.
