Kremlin: Russia ready for peaceful settlement in Ukraine
The Kremlin has reiterated that Russia remains open to a peaceful resolution in Ukraine, while continuing its military operation due to a lack of alternatives.
President Vladimir Putin’s press secretary, Dmitry Peskov, said that Special US Envoy Steve Witkoff had proven himself an effective negotiator, and Moscow hopes his efforts will continue to support a settlement in Ukraine, Caliber.Az reports per Russian media.
Peskov welcomed Washington’s involvement in seeking a resolution to the conflict, but emphasised that Russia would “in any case” protect its interests and achieve the objectives set for its military operation.
He added that Russia remains open to dialogue and that President Putin plans to hold several international telephone discussions in the coming days.
