Ukrainian drone attack disrupts energy site in Russia's Nizhny Novgorod

14 October 2025 12:06

An energy facility was damaged while repelling a drone attack by the Ukrainian Armed Forces (UAF) over Nizhny Novgorod Oblast, temporarily disrupting electricity supply, the regional governor, Gleb Nikitin, said on his Telegram channel.

“As a result of falling debris, one energy facility was damaged, which led to a brief power outage,” Caliber.Az quotes Nikitin as saying in the message.

The governor noted that electricity had already been restored at the time of the report. Relevant specialists were dispatched to the site of the incident.

No casualties were reported as a result of the attack.

This incident follows a pattern of escalating Ukrainian drone operations deep into Russian territory, targeting energy and military-industrial sites to disrupt Moscow's war effort. Just days earlier, on October 6-7, 2025, Ukraine claimed strikes on the nearby Sverdlov explosives plant in Dzerzhinsk (Nizhny Novgorod Oblast), one of Russia's largest munitions producers, causing fires and explosions despite Russian claims of intercepting 20 drones with no damage. Similar attacks hit oil refineries in Kstovo and Tuapse, as well as Crimea's Feodosia terminal, amid Russia's downing of over 250 drones in a massive overnight barrage—the largest in six months.
