Moscow: Russia aims to promote 3+3 platform's work in South Caucasus

Russia aims to promote the work of the 3+3 Consultative Regional Platform launched in December 2021 (Azerbaijan, Armenia, Georgia, as well as Russia, Iran and Türkiye).

The statement came from the Russian Foreign Ministry on January 30 in response to media questions at a press conference on the results of the activities of Russian diplomacy in 2022, Caliber.Az reports.

"We consider this platform, where it is planned to focus on practical issues of strengthening cooperation in the interests of regional players, useful and timely," the Russian Foreign Ministry said.

When asked if Russia is involved in the process of re-establishing Armenian-Turkish relations, which has recently become more active, the Russian Foreign Ministry stated that this initiative was launched under Russian auspices in January 2022, when the special representatives of Armenia Ruben Rubinyan and Türkiye Serdar Kilic met for the first time in Moscow.

"We are in close contact with both of them today. We welcome the recent developments that open up prospects for the restoration of Armenian-Turkish relations, which will contribute to the further improvement of the regional situation," the ministry said.
