Two Iranian IRGC soldiers killed while clearing Israeli munitions after 12-day war PHOTO
On July 6, two members of Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) were killed while clearing unexploded Israeli munitions in Lorestan Province, days after the end of a 12-day conflict between Iran and Israel.
According to a statement by the Public Relations Department of the Lorestan IRGC Headquarters, the incident occurred in the city of Khorramabad, Caliber.Az reports, citing Iranian media.
The statement named the fallen guards as Ali Bazgir and Mir Hossein Mousavi, hailing them as “brave defenders of the homeland.”
The IRGC said the two were clearing the area of explosives left behind from the recent “invasion of the notorious Zionist regime” during the intense 12-day war.
The recent Israeli strikes on Iran, which began in mid-June, targeted nuclear facilities and civilian infrastructure, killing hundreds—including senior IRGC officials and nuclear scientists—according to Iranian authorities. Iran’s judiciary has placed the civilian death toll at over 900.
In retaliation, Iran launched extensive drone and missile attacks on Israeli military installations, which Iranian sources claim forced the Israeli government to request a ceasefire. A truce was reached on June 24.
The United States, Israel’s main ally, also carried out unprecedented strikes on Iran’s nuclear facilities in Fordow, Isfahan, and Natanz on June 22, escalating the conflict before the ceasefire took effect.
