Iran urges UN action after schools hit in Middle East strikes
Iran’s ambassador to the UN in Geneva, Ali Bahreini, has addressed the United Nations Special Rapporteur on the right to education, raising concerns about attacks affecting schools in the ongoing Middle East conflict, Tasnim reports.
In his letter, Bahreini criticized US and Israeli military operations for targeting civilian infrastructure, including educational institutions. He highlighted a recent incident in Minab, where a primary school was reportedly damaged and children were injured.
The ambassador urged strict adherence to international humanitarian law and emphasized the need to protect the right to education even during armed conflicts.
He also called on the international community to condemn attacks on schools and ensure accountability for those responsible, underscoring the importance of safeguarding civilian life and educational facilities in conflict zones.
