IRGC claims destruction of THAAD radar in UAE, strike on US support vessel
The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) has claimed responsibility for a series of strikes targeting Israeli and US-linked assets in the region, according to a statement issued by its public relations department.
In the statement, the IRGC said it had destroyed a “THAAD” radar system forming part of Israel’s missile defence network in Al Ruwais, United Arab Emirates.
The group stated that the system was hit by a precision-guided missile launched by its Aerospace Force and was “completely destroyed”. There has been no immediate confirmation from Israeli or Emirati authorities regarding the claim.
The IRGC also said its drone and missile units struck a US naval task group’s fuel supply support vessel approximately 700 kilometres off the coast of Chabahar, in south-eastern Iran.
According to the statement, the vessel was rendered inoperable and removed from operational service.
In addition, the IRGC claimed that its advanced anti-ship missile systems remain engaged in tracking and pursuing US naval forces operating in the region.
