Iran says security forces prevented planned attack in capital
Iran’s Ministry of Intelligence has announced that it dismantled an armed group in Tehran described as a mercenary cell allegedly connected to what it called the “American-Zionist enemy.”
According to the ministry, the group had been operating in the capital and was preparing to carry out instructions received from its handlers. Security services identified and detained the suspects before they were able to execute their plans. In the official statement, the officers involved in the operation were referred to as the “anonymous soldiers of the Imam of the Time.”
The report, cited by Khabar Fouri, stated that authorities seized 11 Kalashnikov assault rifles, a substantial quantity of ammunition, and equipment intended for conducting combat operations in urban settings. Investigators also confiscated cash in euros and US dollars, along with a Starlink satellite communications terminal.
The Ministry of Intelligence stressed that it would continue to act decisively against similar groups and prevent what it described as hostile activity inside the country.
