ASTRA: Russian bombers drop at least 10 bombs on own territory in 2026

Russian armed forces have dropped at least 10 aerial bombs on Russian territory in 2026.

Another two FAB high-explosive aerial bombs “fell off abnormally” over Russia’s Belgorod region, ASTRA reported.

On February 3, a FAB bomb was found near the village of Setnoye in the Korochansky district. On February 6, another Russian aerial bomb fell near the village of Khryashchevoye in the same district of the Belgorod region. 

The bombs did not explode and no one was injured, sources in the region’s emergency services told ASTRA.

According to ASTRA, these incidents mark at least the ninth and tenth aerial bombs dropped by Russian aircraft on Russian territory in 2026.

As ASTRA previously reported, Russia dropped at least 143 aerial bombs on its own and occupied territories in 2025. In 2024, at least 165 Russian FAB bombs fell on those territories.

As ASTRA explained earlier, in order to counter Ukrainian air defences, the Russian army began equipping Soviet-era FAB bombs with Unified gliding and correction module (UMPK) bomb kits. After this upgrade, the bombs are fitted with wings and satellite guidance, allowing them to be launched directly from Russian territory. However, due to the system’s imperfections, the bombs do not always reach their targets and sometimes fall on Russian territory.
