Collapse of culprit Khachatryan's plans to slip into Armenia under ICRC cover Baku is up to every move
The Armenian mass media propaganda (MMP) has repeatedly proved its willingness and ability to pass off its perverted worldview as the truth of last resort. This is habitual behaviour for the representatives of the "fourth estate" of the country, where the circulation of lies about the causes and consequences of the conflict with Azerbaijan is a usual practice. At the same time, every new "pearl" of Armenian propagandists needs to be discussed and their lies and stupidity exposed point by point.
I will note at once that they managed to go above and beyond. So, the Armenian MMP published a report that "the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) distributed a statement on the abduction of a 68-year-old resident of Artsakh Republic Vagif Khachatryan in Berdzor corridor by Azerbaijanis on July 29". I would like to note at once that there was nothing of this kind on the ICRC website (www.icrc.org) at the time of publication of this text. The last news on the Armenian-Azerbaijani conflict there was dated July 29. This was, incidentally, a provocative statement by the ICRC, for it reported that "despite all efforts, the ICRC is currently unable to deliver humanitarian supplies to the civilian population along the Lachin corridor and other routes, including through Aghdam".
To begin with, those whom the ICRC calls "civilians" are Karabakh separatists. That is, individuals who do not recognise the territorial integrity of Azerbaijan and who thus act illicitly. Plus, tens of thousands of these ladies and gentlemen are holders of Armenian passports, i.e. a completely different state, which has held 20% of Azerbaijani lands under occupation for more than a quarter of a century.
What are they all doing on the territory of our country and how right is it on the part of the ICRC to protect Armenian citizens illegally present in the Karabakh economic region of Azerbaijan? Alas, the ICRC does not give an answer to this question. At the same time, the ICRC does not specify the reason why this organisation cannot deliver humanitarian cargo to Khankendi through Aghdam. At the same time, the truth is obvious since the blame for this lies with the Karabakh separatists themselves, who blocked the Aghdam-Askeran highway with concrete slabs.
But, let's get bacl to Armenian MMP. When publishing information about Vagif Khachaturyan, they managed to put the word detention in inverted commas. What was it then? Teleportation of Vagif Cherkezovich from the "Lachin" area to one of the medical centres of Baku? You should agree that we see absolutely anecdotal antics on the part of the Armenian MMP. Which, on top of everything else, claims that the detainee is an "Artsakh citizen". Who and when did recognise this "Artsakh"? Even Armenia has not recognised it.
So the Armenian MMP and the ICRC, if this organisation has indeed disseminated such a flagrant statement, are in the grip of hallucinations. The reality is that Vagif Khachaturyan's past is simply full of crimes against the peaceful Azerbaijani population. He, together with other persons of Armenian nationality, with the use of various weapons and infantry fighting vehicles, committed an armed attack on the village of Meshali in the Khojaly district of Azerbaijan, during which 25 Azerbaijanis were killed, 14 people were injured to various degrees of severity, and 358 people were forcibly evicted from their places of legal residence.
How should Azerbaijan act towards the person it considers guilty of such a nightmarish crime? Should he be praised for such actions? No, he should have been detained, and brought to Baku, and then a fair judicial investigation should be ensured against this native of Badar village of Askeran district of Azerbaijan. Azerbaijan will provide all this. Our country acts exactly the same way as any other country that has a dossier on a person accused of committing crimes against its citizens would act.
And it is quite obvious that Vagif Khachaturyan, hoping to escape justice, tried to move to Armenia. He was sure that he had been forgotten about in our country. He was very much expecting to slip into Armenia under the ICRC cover. But both his assumptions turned out to be wrong. Azerbaijan remembers everything, we have a dossier on every Armenian militant and all of them must live with the understanding that we have the opportunity to get them and bring them to Baku.
By the way, according to ICRC, some 680 patients have been transported through the Lachin corridor under the internationally recognised humanitarian mandate since December 2022. That is, the ICRC recognises that none of those 680 transported had any problems. Some of them even thanked Azerbaijan. But the situation with Vagif Khachaturyan is quite different, and his bloody past is to blame.
It all boils down to that another fuss raised by the Armenian side, which does not hesitate to defend someone whose crimes Azerbaijan can easily prove in any court, will be fruitless. And the ICRC, which has already seemingly stated that its representatives will visit the detained patient as soon as possible and are in touch with his family, can turn to the Azerbaijani side. And Baku will certainly consider the ICRC's request. But I cannot even guess what the Armenian MMP will write in this regard. It will probably be another leap of imagination.
