Venezuela offers BRICS priority access to oil, gas projects
Venezuelan Foreign Minister Yván Gil Pinto announced that the country is ready to grant BRICS member states priority access to its oil and gas projects.
“We are ready to work with all BRICS countries and open our country for investments from the member states of the association. And others, but for BRICS – as a priority,” Pinto told Russian news agency TASS, Caliber.Az reports.
He noted that Venezuela is already actively cooperating with BRICS nations such as Russia, China, India, and South Africa, with companies from these countries currently investing in Venezuela’s energy sector.
President Nicolás Maduro has expressed strong support for BRICS, viewing the alliance as central to Venezuela’s geopolitical future.
“Nicolás Maduro says the future lies with BRICS, and we want to be part of that future,” Pinto stated. “We are working to align ourselves with the shared vision of this association.”
Venezuela has reiterated its commitment to joining BRICS and continues to pursue full membership in the group.
BRICS, originally formed by Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa, expanded in 2024 to include Iran, the United Arab Emirates, Egypt, and Ethiopia, bringing its total membership to nine countries.
