Syria, Türkiye target $10 billion in annual trade

Syria and Türkiye plan to increase their annual bilateral trade turnover to $10 billion, Syrian Foreign Minister in the transitional government Asaad al-Shaibani said at a joint press conference with his Turkish counterpart Hakan Fidan.

Al-Shaibani described cooperation between the two neighboring countries as strategic, noting that more than 40 agreements have been signed between Damascus and Ankara in recent months.

“We intend to increase bilateral trade turnover to $10 billion a year in the near future,” the diplomat said.

He added that the two countries also plan to conclude a comprehensive agreement on energy cooperation.
