200 trucks with humanitarian aid enter Gaza
As many as 200 trucks with humanitarian aid, four tanks with household gas and the same number with diesel fuel have entered the Gaza Strip through the Rafah checkpoint.
The humanitarian aid trucks carry only food, water, shelter equipment, and medical supplies, Caliber.Az reports, citing the X page of the Coordination of Government Activities in the Territories (COGAT).
The cargo went to the enclave as part of Israel's agreement with the Palestinian Hamas movement. Under the terms of the deal, which was reached on November 22, the parties agreed on a temporary ceasefire, the delivery of humanitarian aid, and the release of Palestinian prisoners from Israeli prisons in exchange for the transfer of hostages captured by Hamas to Israel.
Meanwhile, at a press conference in Barcelona, Josep Borrell, EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, said that the supply of humanitarian aid and pauses in hostilities alone will not solve the conflict in the Gaza Strip.
The diplomat is convinced that there is no point in supplying aid to “those who will be killed tomorrow.”
“The humanitarian pause and humanitarian supplies are great news, but they are not enough. There is no point in giving humanitarian aid to those who will be killed tomorrow, so the bombing of Gaza must stop. We need a solution to the conflict, and for this we need concrete steps forward,” Borrell is convinced.
He again called for an extension of the pause in hostilities, as well as the release of all hostages.
“Hamas should not control Gaza, and Israel should not continue to colonize Gaza. The Palestinian authorities need our help to resume work in Gaza, which should not become a cradle of terrorism,” the head of European diplomacy emphasized.
