President Khachaturyan: Armenia does not need "Nagorno Karabakh republic" structures

Armenian President Vahagn Khachaturyan commented on the issue of preserving the institutions of the abolished junta in Karabakh.

"The state institutions of 'NKR' [Nagorno Karabakh Republic] will act for what? There is the Republic of Armenia and its institutions are acting," Khachaturyan told reporters, Caliber.Az reports, citing Armenian media.

According to him, Armenia "protects" the rights of Karabakh Armenians.

When asked how Armenia promotes their return to their homeland, the president said these topics are being discussed.

Khachaturyan also said that "Karabakh was recognised as part of Azerbaijan back in 1991."
