Armenian detained for pointing gun at Azerbaijani soldiers

04 June 2025 15:30

An Armenian citizen has been detained after pointing a gun at Azerbaijani servicemen.

Several weeks ago, the city police department in Goris received a report that, at the border within the administrative territory of the Tegh community (Digh – editor’s note), the driver of a Nissan vehicle allegedly brandished a pistol and aimed it at Azerbaijani soldiers, Caliber.Az reports, citing Armenian media outlets.

Following an operational check, the police detained three men in Goris and brought them to the station: a 32-year-old, a 45-year-old, and a 21-year-old.

The 32-year-old man, residing in Etchmiadzin, claimed that while at the border, he pulled out his pneumatic pistol and aimed it at Azerbaijani soldiers, driven by anger and with the intent to frighten them.

In response to an inquiry from Aravot.am, the Armenian Investigative Committee reported that, based on information received from the Main Directorate of Public Police of Armenia of Internal Affairs and the Goris Police Department, the Syunik Regional Investigative Department of the Investigative Committee has initiated a criminal case and is conducting a preliminary investigation into the incident.
