FM: Iran stands firm on uranium enrichment, defying US pressure
Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi has said that Iran has no intention of giving up its right to enrich uranium on its own territory, despite the position of US President Donald Trump.
Araghchi underscored that Iran’s nuclear policy remains unchanged and sovereign, Caliber.Az reports via Russian media.
“Uranium enrichment on our soil is a red line. I believe all countries have now come to understand this reality,” the foreign minister stated.
He added that Tehran does not need or intend to seek approval from any foreign power to pursue its nuclear program, reaffirming the country’s independent approach.
Earlier, Press-Secretary of the Russian president Dmitry Peskov stated that Russia supports efforts aimed at a peaceful resolution of the Iranian nuclear issue. "All countries have the right to use nuclear energy for peaceful purposes. However, such use must take place strictly under the supervision of the IAEA and the international community," Peskov added.
