Azerbaijani presidential inauguration: Aliyev swears allegiance to nation UPDATED

The Azerbaijani Milli Majlis (parliament) is hosting the inauguration ceremony of Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev.

Participants of the ceremony warmly welcomed President Ilham Aliyev, Caliber.Az reports citing the official website of the Azerbaijani president.

The inauguration ceremony of Ilham Heydar oglu Aliyev, elected President of the Republic of Azerbaijan by popular vote, was declared open.

Soldiers of the Armed Forces carried the national flag of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the standard of the President of Azerbaijan to the stage to the sound of a solemn march.

Chairman of the Constitutional Court Farhad Abdullayev and judges of the Constitutional Court were invited to the stage.

Farhad Abdullayev said: "Dear ladies and gentlemen! As you know, the Constitutional Court of the Republic of Azerbaijan, having approved the results of the Central Election Commission on the results of the presidential election by its resolution dated February 13, 2024, declared Mr. Ilham Heydar oglu Aliyev the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan.

Ilham Aliyev, elected President of Azerbaijan, in accordance with Article 103 of the Constitution of the Republic of Azerbaijan, is invited to take oath in the presence of judges of the Constitutional Court".

President Ilham Aliyev took the oath by putting his hand on the Constitution of the Republic of Azerbaijan.

The national anthem of the Republic of Azerbaijan was sounded.

Kneeling down, President Ilham Aliyev kissed the national flag of Azerbaijan.

The swearing-in ceremony of President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev has started at the Milli Majlis (parliament), Azertag reports.

On February 13, the Constitutional Court of Azerbaijan approved the results of the snap presidential election held on February 7, 2024.

According to the final protocol of the Central Election Commission, Ilham Aliyev won the presidential election with 92.12 per cent of votes.

The Central Electoral Commission, in charge of holding elections across the country, registered seven presidential candidates.

A total of 90,272 observers monitored the elections. The voter turnout in the elections was 76.43 per cent.
