President Aliyev approves 14-day paid leave for new fathers
Azerbaijan will begin granting paid leave to men in connection with the birth of a child, following the approval of amendments to the country’s Labour Code by President Ilham Aliyev on January 15, Caliber.Az reported.
The newly adopted changes establish a formal entitlement for fathers to receive paid leave upon the birth of a child. According to the amendments, men will be eligible for a total of 14 calendar days of paid leave. This entitlement will be provided on the basis of an official medical certificate issued by a healthcare institution confirming the child’s birth.
The 14-day period will apply both to the days preceding the birth and to the immediate period after the birth, allowing fathers to support their families during the final days of pregnancy as well as in the early postnatal stage.
