OTS leaders sign document to increase budget during Shusha summit
During the informal summit of the Organization of Turkic States (OTS) in Shusha, a document aimed at boosting the OTS budget was signed by the heads of state and government of OTS member states.
Earlier, in his address to summit participants, President Ilham Aliyev of Azerbaijan expressed concerns about the adequacy of the current OTS budget in meeting the organization's goals, Caliber.Az reports citing local media.
He highlighted Azerbaijan's recent contribution of $2 million to the OTS Secretariat to support its operations.
The Organisation of Turkic States is an international organisation that aims to promote comprehensive cooperation among Turkic-speaking countries.
Founded in 2009, the Organisation of Turkic States includes member states such as Türkiye, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, and Uzbekistan.
The organisation focuses on various areas of collaboration, including politics, economics, culture, education, and transportation, with the goal of fostering stronger ties and mutual support among its members.
Observer countries, like Hungary, participate in the organisation’s activities to engage in and benefit from the cooperation framework. The Secretary General of the Organisation of Turkic States oversees the implementation of the organisation's policies and initiatives.
