Turkmen ambassador lauds COP29 as symbol of Azerbaijan's growing global standing
Turkmen Ambassador to Azerbaijan Gurbanmamet Elyasov emphasized that hosting COP29 in Azerbaijan is a significant indicator of the nation's growing influence on the global stage.
In his remarks at an event in Baku commemorating the 33rd anniversary of Turkmenistan's independence, Elyasov underscored the importance of Azerbaijan's contributions to international climate initiatives, Caliber.Az reports via local media.
The Ambassador remarked that Turkmenistan prioritizes strengthening its relations with Azerbaijan, particularly in the realms of geopolitics and geo-economics.
"Today, both nations occupy a vital position at the crossroads of Eurasia, serving as key players in transport, communication, and energy corridors," he stated.
The ambassador further noted that both countries are engaged in substantial energy projects and are committed to combating climate change and advancing alternative energy sources. He reiterated that the forthcoming COP29, scheduled for this November in Azerbaijan, exemplifies the country's growing significance in global affairs.
Moreover, the Ambassador highlighted the shared cultural, linguistic, and religious ties that underpin the strong relationship between Turkmenistan and Azerbaijan, fostering a high level of cooperation and mutual respect.
