Kremlin declares dialogue with West futile amid hostility toward Russia
Russian president's Press Secretary Dmitry Peskov has stated that current efforts to engage in dialogue with the West are likely to fail.
“It is futile to try to communicate Russia’s position to the West at this time. The prevailing hostility towards anything Russian makes meaningful dialogue impossible. A period of time will be necessary before constructive communication can resume,” he said, Caliber.Az reports citing the Russian media.
Peskov also criticised the EU member states for "mocking" Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán over his visit to Russia.
"The entire EU is ridiculing him for this trip to Moscow. The situation within the EU is deplorable," he added.
Previously, Peskov commented on Western strategies concerning Russia, asserting that the US and its allies aim to achieve a strategic defeat of Moscow through the ongoing conflict in Ukraine. He suggested that the West’s hostility towards Russia is currently intense but may eventually subside.
