PM Pashinyan calls emigration Armenia's biggest challenge It’s about freedom, not just economics
During a government session, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan described emigration as the most pressing issue facing the country since its independence.
He emphasized that the phenomenon remains poorly understood, attributing it not only to economic factors but also to a lack of personal freedoms, Caliber.Az reports citing Russian media.
"Emigration, which stands as the largest challenge in the history of the Third Republic, paradoxically lacks thorough analysis," Pashinyan remarked.
"Prosperity encompasses freedom. We often overlook the reasons behind emigration; it’s not just economic. Some leave because of their hairstyle, their earrings, or simply because they don't enjoy traditional dishes like shashlyk."
He noted that many citizens have left Armenia to avoid military service or due to security concerns. "Who would leave a comfortable life in Brussels to live in a village like Movses, where they are under threat?" he challenged, urging a closer examination of the underlying factors contributing to the country's emigration crisis.
