Another coal mine catches fire in Kazakhstan's Karaganda region
A fire broke out at the Saranskaya mine in the Karaganda region at night.
“A fire broke out at the Saranskaya mine at 01.55, and a plan was introduced to eliminate the accident. The fire was extinguished by the forces of the professional militarized emergency rescue service,” ArcelorMittal Temirtau told Sputnik Kazakhstan.
The company stressed that all the miners were evacuated on time, and there were no casualties.
The reasons and circumstances are being specified, the press service of ArcelorMittal Temirtau added.
This is the second fire at the mines owned by the company in recent days. On August 17, it became known about a fire at the Kazakhstan mine, where five miners died at a depth of 170 meters. The government raised the issue of changing the owner of the enterprise, noted the owners' disregard for obligations under contracts and a disregard for ensuring the safety of workers.
By the way, Kazakhstan is celebrating Miner's Day on August 27.
