Armenia is again surprising Russian Foreign Ministry’s spokesperson VS Armenian counterpart

01 September 2023 14:32

Everyone was greatly surprised over the situation triggered by Spokesperson for the Russian Foreign Ministry Maria Zakharova was tragicomic. Her new statement should have outraged Azerbaijan, however, Yerevan, demonstrating the wonders of the worldview once again, got indignant.

What did Zakharova say? She stated that "the current situation in the Lachin corridor was the result of Armenia's recognition of Garabagh as part of the Azerbaijani territory." “This was outlined at the end of the summit with the leaders of the two countries under the EU auspices in October 2022 and in May 2023. This is clearly stated in the statement of the Russian Foreign Ministry dated July 15 in connection with the situation around Garabagh. I consider it inappropriate, wrong, unjustified to lay responsibility on the Russian peacekeeping contingent,” Zakharova said.

She considered it necessary to clarify that the task of the peacekeeping contingent now is to “render all possible assistance to ensure the rights and security of the Garabagh Armenians” under the new conditions that have appeared as a result of Yerevan’s recognition of Garabagh’s belonging to Azerbaijan. I reiterate that this statement could cause Baku’s justified criticism because Zakharova used such parasitic expressions as “Lachin corridor”, “security of Garabagh Armenians”, “Nagorno-Garabagh”.

This is important. This clearly outlines Russia's position in relation to the realities that appeared as a result of Azerbaijan's victory in the 44-day second Garabagh war and Baku’s subsequent diplomatic triumphs. The Russian Federation, apparently, is displeased with such a course of events, as it is very afraid of losing the leverage that allows it to put pressure on both Baku and Yerevan at the same time.

Moreover, Zakharova gave reason to think that before Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan was forced to admit Azerbaijan’s territorial integrity, Yerevan had the right to commit any provocations, supporting the Garabagh separatists. As for the functions of the Russian peacekeepers, which Zakharova mentioned, they obviously should not include escorting cargo with weapons for the Garabagh gangs, as it happened more than once. Mines did not appear by themselves in the zone temporarily controlled by the Russian peacekeepers, and the Armenian illegal armed formations had to be disarmed and withdrawn in parallel with the entry of the Russian peacekeepers into the region. However, this was not done.

Azerbaijan could have been dissatisfied with Zakharova's speeches. However, Spokesperson for the Armenian Foreign Ministry Ani Badalyan was hysterical. This was fabulous! This is a vivid example of a brazen, cynical, stupid lie. Such an example should be replicated and everyone who is trying to defend Yerevan should follow this example.

“The Nagorno-Garabagh conflict has never been a territorial dispute between Armenia and Azerbaijan. In its essence, it has always been and remains a question of the rights and security of the people of Nagorno-Karabagh,” Badalyan said.

This is an absurdity because it is impossible to deny the obvious fact that for more than a quarter of a century, 20 per cent of the Azerbaijani territories were under Armenian occupation. Just think, Armenia, rather than aliens from other planets, has occupied a fifth part of our lands! The need for the speedy withdrawal of Armenian illegal formations from the occupied Azerbaijani territories rather than from the territory of the Moon was indicated in the well-known resolutions of the Security Council and the UN General Assembly. The first Garabagh war and the 44-day second Garabagh war occurred in our land. What did the representatives of the Armenian Armed Forces do on it, if “the Nagorno-Karabagh conflict has never been a territorial dispute between Armenia and Azerbaijan”? If Armenia was not involved, then why did so many graves appear on Yerevan’s Yerablur military pantheon?

However, that's not all. Badalyan once again managed to brazenly and stupidly deny the obvious things. She reminded that Armenia and Azerbaijan reaffirmed their commitment to the Alma-Ata Declaration in Prague on October 6, 2022, which the former Soviet republics, including Armenia, Azerbaijan and Russia, signed back in 1991, recognising each other's territorial integrity within the administrative borders, that existed between the republics during the period of Soviet Union.

After such a statement, a simple question arises. Why does Yerevan regularly declare that it expects Azerbaijan to recognise the territorial integrity of the Republic of Armenia? Badalyan states that Azerbaijan recognised Armenia’s territorial integrity! It turns out that Yerevan is constantly hypocritical. Surely. However, the Armenian foreign ministry says that this is a variation.

What does Badalyan's statement mean?  Armenia did not have any territorial claims against Azerbaijan. However, everyone heard and saw how Pashinyan danced and yelled that “Garabagh is Armenia”. Are not these territorial claims against our country, but simply the result of the prime minister’s alcohol abuse and no one should pay attention to his exclamations? We expect Badalyan to voice this version.

It seems that Badalyan may say that there was no war between Armenia and Azerbaijan either. Why is Pashinyan called a capitulator in Armenia? I can answer this question for Badalyan. He is called a capitulator in Armenia because he unleashed the 44-day second Garabagh war, failed to stop it, and then was forced to put his autograph under the Trilateral Statement on November 10, 2020.

During the 44-day second Garabagh war and after it, anti-Russian sentiment in Armenia reached its peak. They were provoked by the Armenian authorities, who tried to shift Armenia’s blame on the Russian Federation. This campaign of denying the obvious, searching for the guilty anywhere except themselves, continues to this day. The truth is that no one, except Armenia, is to blame for the miserable situation of the country that lost the war, and at the same time its past, present and, if it goes on like this, future. Badalyan's speeches testify to this.
