Armenia's Pashinyan criticises clerical and feudal ideologies driving emigration
Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan addressed the issue of emigration during a session of the National Assembly, highlighting it as a significant trend in the country since gaining independence.
He emphasized that people are leaving Armenia in search of a better place to live, Caliber.Az reports, citing Armenian media.
"Why so, because Armenia was ruled and power in Armenia was formed by elites whose ideology was predominantly clerical and feudal, and this ideology, in fact, has not developed significantly over the past centuries," he said.
According to Nikol Pashinyan, when a citizen sits in short pants and drinks coffee on the balcony, he is told from outside: "What are you doing?".
"They say you can't, there are noble ideas, how can you not be ashamed, put on shorts, sit on the balcony and drink coffee? Instead of throwing yourself off the balcony to draw the attention of the international community to a very specific problem. You wear coloured clothes, they say: shame on you, how can you wear coloured clothes, and what about mourning, who will mourn, scum, traitor, celebrate your birthday, they say: instead of a memorial service, you celebrate your birthday? And that person says: since it is so, I will go and live where no one will shame me for drinking coffee on the balcony," he said.
The Armenian prime minister said that their greatest shame is that after the revolution they continued clerical and feudal traditions.
