Georgia aims to strengthen US ties with foreign policy shift
The Georgian government, with Maka Bochorishvili as the nominee for Foreign Minister, has announced plans to reset its relationship with the United States, emphasising Washington's pivotal role in Tbilisi's foreign policy objectives.
According to Bochorishvili, for Georgia, the strategic partnership with the United States is a top priority, including all key areas outlined in the Charter on Strategic Partnership, Caliber.Az reports per foreign media.
"Our goal is to reset relations with the United States by restoring balanced and fair cooperation across all sectors and advancing our collaboration in line with the interests of both countries,” Bochorishvili stated.
In her address to the Georgian parliament, Bochorishvili reaffirmed the nation’s commitment to Euro-Atlantic integration, stressing Georgia’s aspiration to join NATO and the European Union as a core national objective.
“Under Article 78 of Georgia's Constitution, our country remains steadfast on its irreversible path toward Euro-Atlantic integration. Accordingly, strengthening ties with NATO and the European Union will remain a critical priority,” she said.
Bochorishvili’s remarks, delivered during parliamentary discussions on the approval of Georgia's new government, signalled a renewed focus on international partnerships amidst ongoing political and regional challenges.
