Armenia pursues EU integration roadmap while pausing CSTO participation
Yerevan is implementing a “roadmap” for sectoral integration with the European Union based on existing agreements with the bloc, Armenia’s Deputy Foreign Minister Vahan Kostanyan said in remarks to Azerbaijani journalists.
“With regard to the European Union, Armenia has two very important documents with the EU. The first is the Comprehensive and Enhanced Partnership Agreement (CEPA), which has been in force since 2017. In addition, Armenia and the EU have adopted a new document — the Armenia–EU Strategic Partnership Agenda, which defines short-, medium-, and long-term stages of cooperation,” he said, Caliber.Az reports per local media.
According to Kostanyan, this framework effectively serves as a roadmap for Armenia’s sectoral integration into the European Union.
“And we will consistently implement this agenda,” he said.
Responding to a journalist’s question regarding Armenia’s status in the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO), Kostanyan stated that Yerevan has suspended its membership in the organization.
