Georgian police bust drug operation involving Ukrainian nationals VIDEO
Georgian police have detained two Ukrainian nationals on suspicion of illegal possession, storage and facilitating the sale of narcotics in large and particularly large quantities, the Interior Ministry said on April 17.
According to Caliber.Az, the suspects, both born in 2000, were arrested by officers from the Imereti police department, according to a statement posted by the ministry on Facebook.
During searches of their personal belongings, temporary accommodation and subsequent investigative measures, authorities said they seized narcotic substances, including a particularly large quantity of methadone, as well as materials used for packaging drugs.
An investigation is underway under articles of Georgia’s Criminal Code, which carry penalties of up to 20 years in prison or life imprisonment if convicted, the ministry added.
