Iranian official suggests fee system for passage through Strait of Hormuz
Iranian lawmaker Mahmoud Nabavian, a member of the Islamic Consultative Assembly, has said that commercial shipping will be allowed to pass through the Strait of Hormuz under a toll system following a regional ceasefire agreement in Lebanon.
In a post on X, Nabavian claimed that the “retreat” of what he called the “American regime” and the acceptance of a ceasefire in Lebanon had led to a situation in which some commercial vessels would be permitted to transit the strategic waterway upon payment of fees, Caliber.Az reports.

He also dismissed reports of a naval blockade in the Strait of Hormuz, saying such claims had been disproven by recent movements of Iranian oil tankers through the passage. The lawmaker described suggestions of a blockade as a “joke” and a “preemptive failure.”
