Armenian and Turkish parliamentary speakers have discussed a proposal to expand regional cooperation formats to include Armenia in the Türkiye–Georgia–Azerbaijan framework, in a move aimed at promoting peace and stability in the South Caucasus. The talks were held on the sidelines of the 152nd Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union in Istanbul.

Speaker of the Armenian National Assembly Alen Simonyan wrote about the meeting with his Turkish counterpart Numan Kurtulmuş on X social media account Caliber.Az reports.

During the discussions, Simonyan welcomed a proposal put forward by his Turkish counterpart in a meeting with the Speaker of the Georgian Parliament, whereby Kurtulmuş suggested incorporating Armenia into the Türkiye–Georgia–Azerbaijan format with the objective of fostering peace and regional stability.

The interlocutors also discussed further details regarding the implementation of the initiative, Armenian media reported, citing the press service of the Armenian parliament.
