Germany faces political crisis, Georgian speaker says

Georgian Parliament Speaker Shalva Papuashvili has called the results of the election in the German state of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania a political crisis.

He said the fact that in Germany the ruling party was unable even to clear the electoral threshold shows how deep a political crisis has been created there, Caliber.Az reports, citing Georgian media.

“This is the result of a crisis of trust among the population of their own country,” Papuashvili noted.

Papuashvili added that he did not want to follow the example of some German politicians and interfere in Germany’s domestic affairs.

Alternative for Germany (AfD) received 38.2% of the vote in the Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania parliamentary election, while the Christian Democratic Union (CDU) won 4.9% and failed to clear the electoral threshold.
