Foreign national detained in Batumi over alleged large-scale drug trafficking VIDEO

Police in Georgia’s Batumi have detained a foreign national suspected of illegally acquiring, possessing and preparing drugs for distribution on an especially large scale, the Georgian Interior Ministry said.

Officers from the Adjara Police Department searched the suspect and his rented residence during the investigation, seizing a large quantity of methadone allegedly prepared for sale, along with packaging materials, the ministry said in a Facebook post, Caliber.Az reports.

The investigation is being conducted under Articles 260 and 260⁴ of Georgia’s Criminal Code.

The suspect faces up to 20 years in prison or life imprisonment if convicted.
