Russia prepares to sell nearly 24% Aeroflot stake
Russia’s Finance Ministry is considering selling part of the state’s stake in Aeroflot either this year or in 2027, depending on market conditions, Deputy Finance Minister Alexey Moiseev said.
Speaking to journalists on the sidelines of the Moscow Financial Forum 2026, Moiseev said the legal preparations for the transaction had been completed.
“I allow for both options. The issue is market conditions. In other words, the transaction itself is legally ready. We will monitor market conditions. I have already said that we have a consultant who is helping us choose the most suitable date for the placement,” he said.
Earlier, the Federal Agency for State Property Management (Rosimushchestvo) announced a selection process for a legal entity to organize the sale, on behalf of the state, of a 23.76% stake in PJSC Aeroflot.
Aeroflot CEO Sergei Aleksandrovsky previously said the stake was expected to be sold through the market, while leaving open the possibility of an anchor investor acquiring the shares.
Russian Finance Minister Anton Siluanov has also described part of the government’s Aeroflot stake as an attractive asset for sale. He said, however, that the state intends to retain a controlling stake in the airline.
