Attacks on Iran’s Bandar Abbas port damage 760 vessels, kill 12

Attacks on the southern Iranian port of Bandar Abbas damaged 760 fishing and commercial vessels, killing 12 people and injuring seven, an Iranian judiciary official said on September 21.

Judiciary spokesperson Ali Kazemi said the damage included 420 fishing vessels, comprising about 70 traditional dhows and 350 smaller boats, as well as 340 commercial vessels, Iran International reports.

Kazemi did not specify when the attacks took place or identify those responsible.

He accused the attackers of violating the principles of distinction, proportionality and precaution under the laws of armed conflict.

Provincial judicial authorities are registering complaints over the damage, Kazemi said, adding that nearly 300 assessments had been completed.
