A Just Russia party on track to enter State Duma after reaching 5% threshold

A Just Russia has reached the 5% electoral threshold required to enter the State Duma.

According to Russia’s Central Election Commission, with 96.91% of protocols processed, the party had exactly 5% of the vote. However, preliminary results later showed the party below the threshold, meaning its status remained subject to further counting.

Russia held its ninth State Duma elections from September 18 to 20, with voters choosing 450 deputies for the lower house of parliament. The vote was conducted over three days, while September 20 served as the main voting day, and the election also coincided with voting for regional and local legislative bodies across the country.

Preliminary results show United Russia maintaining a substantial lead, with more than 57% of the vote, followed by the Communist Party with over 13%, the Liberal Democratic Party with nearly 9% and New People with around 8%. Voter turnout reached nearly 60%, according to the Central Election Commission, marking a higher participation rate than in several previous State Duma elections.

The State Duma is elected through a mixed system, with 225 seats allocated through federal party lists and another 225 contested in single-member constituencies. A party must receive at least 5% of the vote on the federal list to qualify for seats through that part of the system.
