Russia says 17 election commission members removed during voting

Seventeen election commission members were removed during the voting period in four Russian regions, including six members affiliated with the Yabloko party, Central Election Commission Chair Ella Pamfilova said.

“Election commission members were suspended, including for deliberately tampering with ballots,” Pamfilova said, Caliber.Az reports per Russian media. 

She added that 36,850 ballots were declared invalid at 20 polling stations across 12 regions of Russia.

Pamfilova also said two cases of ballot stuffing had been recorded during the recent election and that those responsible would be punished.

“There were no instances of election results being rejected at polling stations,” she added.
